In brief
We use small invisible images ("tracking pixels") in some emails to know whether they were opened, so we can improve our email communications.
For new sign-ups, your consent will be requested when you provide your email address.
If you'd rather not be tracked, you can let us know. Today, this means unsubscribing entirely from our marketing emails.
What is a tracking pixel?
A tracking pixel is a tiny, invisible image included in some of our emails. When you open the email, your device loads this image, which tells us the email was opened. This doesn't let us read the content of your inbox or access anything else on your device.
Why we use them
We use tracking pixels to measure and improve the performance of our email campaigns, for example, knowing whether an email was opened lets us adjust how often we send emails and improve the content we offer you. This use requires your consent, which is why it's requested separately.
Some of our emails, including transactional emails (for example, account notifications or contract or payment confirmations), also contain a tracking pixel. In these emails, the pixel is used only to maintain the quality of our contact data (for example, identifying addresses that are no longer active), and never to measure engagement or optimize campaigns. This use doesn't require separate consent.
Your choice
If you're signing up with us for the first time, you'll be shown a checkbox to collect your consent to the tracking pixel, at the moment you provide your email address.
If you're already a contact with us, you can withdraw your consent to tracking at any time. Currently, this means you'll no longer receive any marketing emails from us.
